Responsibilities

The hired candidate will handle regulatory enforcement matters and litigations, including civil, administrative, and criminal subpoenas and requests for information, along with related legal tasks. Specific responsibilities include:

Managing a docket of regulatory enforcement and litigation matters, advising business lines and management.

Handling inquiries and investigations from FINRA, exchanges, SEC, CFTC, and other entities.

Managing external counsel, developing strategies, overseeing disclosures, and assessing risks.

Handling civil, administrative, and criminal inquiries, including negotiations, objections, and data collection.

Conducting internal investigations related to enforcement, employment, disciplinary, and other matters.

Assisting with reporting functions to management, auditors, regulators, and insurers.

Facilitating eDiscovery processes with internal resources.

The Legal Department aims to protect Societe Generale from legal and regulatory risks, support business interests, oversee litigation and investigations, promote an ethical legal culture, and mitigate legal risks. The Canadian Legal Department collaborates closely with the American Legal Department within the Americas Legal Group.

Qualifications:

At least 2+ years as a litigator at a law firm or in-house securities and banking litigation experience.

Member of the New York State Bar.

Education:

Law degree from a US law school.

Undergraduate degree from a 4-year college/university.
