Job Purpose

Provide broad legal counsel across various areas of law, including litigation, labor law, contract law, intellectual property, and commercial law. This role will ensure that the company’s legal interests are protected in all business activities.

Key Duties & Responsibility

Litigation Management:

1. Handle all litigation matters in-house, including preparing legal strategies, representing the company in court, and managing disputes in areas such as commercial contracts, labor disputes, intellectual property, and other civil matters.

2. Ensure the company’s legal interests are defended effectively.

Contract Review & Drafting:

3. Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of contracts, including commercial agreements, employment contracts, partnership agreements, and vendor agreements.

4. Ensure all contracts are legally sound and protect the company’s interests.

Labor Law:

5. Advise on labor law matters, including employment contracts, employee disputes, disciplinary actions, and compliance with labor regulations.

6. Provide guidance to HR on legally compliant workplace policies and practices.

General Legal Advisory:

7. Provide legal advice on a broad range of issues, including corporate law, intellectual property, contract law, and dispute resolution.

8. Act as the go-to legal resource for business units on day-to-day legal queries and operational matters.

Dispute Resolution:

9. Manage dispute resolution efforts, including negotiation, mediation, and alternative dispute resolution (ADR) with partners, suppliers, contractors, and employees.

10. Aim to resolve disputes efficiently and avoid litigation wherever possible.

Intellectual Property:

11. Advise on matters related to intellectual property protection, including trademarks, patents, and copyright issues.

12. Ensure the company’s IP assets are protected and managed effectively.

Risk Management:

13. Assess and manage potential legal risks related to business operations, transactions, and contracts.

14. Provide proactive legal recommendations to mitigate risks and avoid future liabilities.

Coordination with External Counsel:

15. Collaborate with external legal counsel for specialized legal matters, ensuring efficient use of external resources.

16. Manage relationships and legal costs associated with external legal services.

Corporate Records Management:

17. Maintain and organize legal documents, including contracts, litigation files, and other legal records.

18. Ensure all legal records are securely stored and easily accessible to internal stakeholders.

Minimum Education Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in law (LLB or equivalent).

Postgraduate qualification in commercial law or corporate law is preferred but not mandatory.

Minimum Experience Requirements:

5+ years of legal experience, ideally in a corporate legal department or law firm, with experience in litigation, contract law, and labor law.

Proven experience in managing litigation and negotiating contracts is essential
