The Office of the Integrity Commissioner is seeking assistance in carrying out its mandate as a Center of Excellence in public sector ethics. This position will provide comprehensive legal advice and support services to the Integrity Commissioner and staff of the Office of the Integrity Commissioner on all aspects of the Integrity Commissioner’s authority.

What You Will Do
Under the direction of General Counsel, you will act with integrity to:
- Provide legal advice on all aspects of the Office’s work and mandates.
- Support the Commissioner’s advice-giving function for lobbyist registration to provide timely advice to lobbyists.
- Assist with lobbyist registration, disclosure of wrongdoing, and MPP integrity investigations. This work entails conducting jurisdictional analysis, reviewing or preparing investigation plans, interviewing witnesses, researching legal principles, drafting correspondence and notices to respondents and their counsel, preparing investigation reports and reviewing disclosure of wrongdoing reports after referral.
- Manage legal risks, conduct research, prepare memoranda, and collaborate with outside counsel as needed.
- Monitor and analyze legislative, constitutional, and legal developments and reform proposals in Ontario and other jurisdictions relevant to the Integrity Commissioner’s role.
- Maintain professional connections with accountability and investigative offices in Ontario and other jurisdictions.
How You Will Qualify:
In this role, you will need:
- To be qualified to practice law in Ontario with at least five years of experience, or a combination of practice and public service, in or outside Canada, and be a member in good standing of the Law Society of Ontario. A law degree, a J.D. or an LL.B. is required for this position.
- A good understanding of the applicable legislation for all of the Office’s mandates.
- An understanding of and experience with administrative law and/or regulatory investigations.
- Experience conducting complex, sensitive investigations or cases.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.
- Excellent analytical skills are required to assist in the preparation of accurate reports.
- Knowledge of database software and information management systems.
