Our client, a NYC construction management firm, is seeking a legal professional to support construction and development operations through risk management, contract negotiation, and claims oversight. This role involves working across departments and with external partners to address legal matters related to construction projects, corporate governance, compliance, and employment-related issues.
Responsibilities:
Manage legal aspects of claims, insurance issues, and litigation strategy related to construction operations.
Draft, review, and negotiate agreements with clients, contractors, consultants, and public agencies.
Guide internal teams on compliance with contract obligations and industry regulations.
Support entity formation and ensure corporate records meet state and federal requirements.
Assist with property and leasing documents, partnering with outside counsel as needed.
Address legal notices, lien issues, and subcontractor disputes.
Advise on labor law matters, wage compliance, and assist with internal investigations.
Provide legal training and help establish internal risk mitigation procedures.
Requirements:
J.D. from an accredited law school; admitted to practice law in New York (or eligible for in-house counsel registration).
5–10 years of legal experience, with a strong background in construction personal injury law, contracts, and risk management.
