Watts & Associates is working discreetly with a highly regarded Am Law 200 ranked global law firm seeking a 2nd to 3rd year Corporate M&A and Private Equity Associate to join its New York NY office.
This is a pure corporate transactional role supporting sophisticated sponsor and strategic deals, with meaningful exposure to core M&A and private equity workstreams and direct collaboration with senior attorneys.
The platform offers a national and international client base, a team oriented approach, and a strong emphasis on practical training and high quality work product. The position is based in New York with an in office expectation five days per week.
The Opportunity
Work will include supporting acquisitions, dispositions, and investment transactions from diligence through signing and closing, as well as related corporate governance and deal execution tasks. The associate will help coordinate diligence and disclosure, manage transaction checklists, draft and revise ancillary documents, and support negotiations in a fast paced deal environment.
Ideal Candidate Profile
The firm is seeking a 2nd to 3rd year Corporate M&A and Private Equity Associate with:
- 2 to 3 years of law firm experience supporting mergers and acquisitions, including private equity or sponsor related work
- Strong drafting and issue spotting skills across core deal documents and ancillary agreements, with careful attention to detail
- Excellent academic credentials and strong written and verbal communication skills
- Active membership in the New York State Bar
- A collaborative working style and the ability to manage competing deadlines in a high volume transactional practice

Compensation
The anticipated salary range for this role is $235,000 to $260,000, depending on class year, experience and other relevant factors.
