The Corporate Counsel will provide practical, business-oriented legal support across a broad range of operational and real estate matters. This role serves as a trusted legal partner to property management and internal business teams, with primary responsibility for commercial contracts, operational legal support, and property-related disputes. The ideal candidate brings strong judgment, collaborative skills, and the ability to manage a diverse workload in a fast-paced environment. This is an onsite role.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a day-to-day legal advisor to property management and internal business teams on operational matters and risk management issues
- Draft, review, negotiate, and manage a wide range of commercial contracts, including leases, vendor agreements, construction contracts, licensing agreements, NDAs, and consulting agreements
- Manage property-related litigation and pre-litigation matters, including landlord-tenant disputes, vendor claims, insurance defense, and casualty matters
- Provide guidance on insurance, indemnity, and risk allocation provisions in contracts and disputes, partnering with internal risk management teams as needed
- Develop and improve legal templates, playbooks, and contract processes to drive consistency and operational efficiency
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and outside counsel on specialized legal matters while supporting broader legal department initiatives and projects
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school and active bar membership in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
- 4+ years of relevant legal experience, preferably within a corporate legal department or commercial real estate environment
- Experience handling commercial contracts, commercial real estate matters, and/or property-related litigation
- Strong drafting, negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to provide practical business guidance
- Excellent organizational and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders effectively
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and comfort working with legal technology tools, contract management systems, and related platforms
