Role Overview
The General Legal Counsel will lead the global legal function, ensuring compliance across multiple jurisdictions while handling corporate governance, contracts, employment laws, IP, data privacy, disputes, and business expansion.
Key Responsibilities
Legal Strategy & Compliance: Develop legal strategies aligned with business goals, ensuring compliance across India, USA, Europe, EMEA, and APAC.
Employment & Labour Law: Ensure global compliance for employees, contractors, and vendors; manage workforce classification, contracts, terminations, and global mobility.
Office Expansions & Entity Management: Oversee legal setup for new markets, regulatory filings, corporate compliance, and commercial leases.
Contracts & Commercial Transactions: Negotiate and manage SaaS, MSAs, PSAs, subcontracting, and vendor agreements while ensuring risk mitigation.
Intellectual Property & Data Privacy: Protect patents, trademarks, copyrights, and ensure compliance with GDPR, CCPA, DPDP Act, and cross-border data laws.
Dispute Resolution & Litigation: Manage commercial disputes, employment claims, regulatory investigations, and litigation strategies.
Corporate Governance & Ethics: Ensure regulatory compliance, board governance, anti-bribery policies, and oversee M&A legal due diligence.
Leadership & Collaboration: Lead the legal team, partner with HR, Finance, and Compliance, and provide legal training on key policies.
Required Candidate Profile
Education: LLB/LLM from a recognized institution.
Experience:Minimum 10 years in legal roles within IT or KPO MNCs operating in India, USA, EMEA, and APAC.
Expertise:
Contracts & Commercial Transactions: Strong experience in negotiating and managing SaaS agreements, MSAs, PSAs, subcontracting, and vendor contracts.
Intellectual Property & Data Privacy: Proficient in handling patents, trademarks, copyrights, and ensuring compliance with GDPR, CCPA, DPDP Act, and cross-border data laws.
Employment & Labour Law: In-depth knowledge of global employment laws, workforce classification, contractor management, and compliance across jurisdictions.
Regulatory Compliance: Well-versed in corporate governance, M&A legal due diligence, and risk mitigation strategies.
Dispute Resolution & Litigation: Experience in handling commercial disputes, employment claims, and regulatory investigations.
Leadership: Ability to lead a global legal team, collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders, and provide strategic legal guidance.
