Criminal Appellate Attorney – Remote (Texas Licensed)

Salary: Based on experience — up to $200,000+ for Board Certified applicants
The Texas Criminal Defense Group (TCDG) is hiring an experienced criminal appellate attorney to lead our expanding post-conviction division. This is a full-time remote position (Texas-based) focused on appeals, expunctions, nondisclosures, and writs of habeas corpus.
This role is ideal for an appellate attorney ready to take the lead in building a statewide practice, mentoring attorneys, and advising our trial team on preserving issues for appeal.
Key Responsibilities:
Draft and argue criminal appeals and post-conviction writs
File and manage expunction and nondisclosure petitions
Collaborate with trial attorneys on appellate strategy and error preservation
Develop internal systems and workflows to scale the appellate/post-conviction team
Mentor and lead junior attorneys as the division grows
Requirements:
Licensed to practice law in Texas
Substantial criminal appellate experience required
Strong legal writing and research skills
Preferred:
Board Certification in Criminal Appellate Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization
(Board Certified candidates may earn $200,000+ depending on experience)
