Block LLP is seeking a skilled Law & Motion Attorney to join our dynamic Habitability Litigation Team. This role is ideal for an attorney with strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills. The Law & Motion Attorney will be responsible for drafting and arguing substantive motions, including demurrers, motions for summary judgment/adjudication, oppositions, and various pre-trial and trial motions.
The ideal candidate will have experience in plaintiff-side habitability, landlord-tenant disputes, or personal injury litigation, along with a keen ability to craft persuasive legal arguments. This role requires a proactive professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is committed to achieving justice for tenants facing uninhabitable living conditions.
Compensation:
$120,000 – $140,000 yearly
Responsibilities:
Draft and argue complex law and motion matters, including dispositive and evidentiary motions.
Conduct thorough legal research and analysis to support litigation strategy.
Assist trial teams in developing case theories and refining legal arguments.
Attend and argue motions in state courts, including ex parte applications and other hearings.
Collaborate with litigation teams to strengthen case strategy and support ongoing matters.
Qualifications:
J.D. from an accredited law school and active California Bar membership.
2+ years of experience in civil litigation, preferably with habitability, tenant rights, or personal injury cases.
Strong legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
Experience drafting and arguing dispositive and procedural motions.
Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced litigation practice.
