Danos have been mandated on a Corporate Counsel search for a market leading energy and logistics service provider, based in the US but holding a global presence. The client are looking for a commercial aligned Corporate Counsel to assist and advise the energy supply and trading business, reporting into the Managing Counsel. This role also offers remote working with occasional attendance at their US HQ.
Responsibilities:
Provide legal advice and support on all aspects of commodity and energy trading, with a specific focus on US natural gas trading
Draft, review, and negotiate physical and non-physical trading agreements – including but not limited to ISDAs, NAESBs, and EFETs and oil trading, transportation and storage contracts
Be familiar with regulatory compliance matters, including FERC, CFTC, and other relevant US regulations pertaining to the business.
Assist in the development and implementation of internal policies and procedures to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements
Support the resolution of disputes and litigation related to energy trading activities.
Your Profile:
Juris Doctor (JD) qualification from an accredited law school and admitted to practice in the US
3-5 years of relevant experience is preferred, although suitable candidates outside of this range will be considered.
A keen interest in sustainable energy transition
Training and post qualification experience at a top law firm with exposure to the its relevant department. In-house commercial legal experience at an energy company, oil major or shipping or renewables business would be advantageous.
Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, dynamic, performance-driven culture.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
