Role Description This is a full-time, on-site role for a Corporate, Conveyancing and Banking Lawyer based in the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The lawyer will draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of corporate, commercial and banking documents. Daily responsibilities include reviewing corporate and conveyancing matters such as shareholder agreements, joint ventures, commercial contracts, sale and purchase agreements, security documentation and conducting corporate and commercial due diligence. The role involves conducting legal research, preparing opinions, vetting documents and maintaining written communications with clients and third parties. The lawyer will liaise with clients, counterparties, financial institutions, regulators, foreign counsel, and other stakeholders, manage timelines and transaction checklists, and assist in supervising and training junior team members or support staff where required.

Qualifications

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex legislation, case law, and financial documentation.
  • Solid understanding of finance and banking concepts relevant to lending, security, project, and real estate financing transactions.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to draft clear documents and engage effectively with clients and stakeholders.
  • Client-focused mindset with professional customer service skills, including responsiveness, relationship management, and the ability to handle client expectations.
  • Recognized law degree and admission to practice law in Malaysia.
  • Minimum 3 years prior experience in the role described.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple transactions and deadlines simultaneously.
