Major Responsibilities
Draft, review and negotiate contracts with customers, suppliers, consultants and other vendors
Develop and provide formal client training in substantive areas of contract law, the contract negotiation process, and Essendant’s contract approval policy
Maintain and update Essendant’s template agreements to address legal and business changes
Under general supervision, carry out broad and complex assignments involving coordination with multiple functional areas within the company
Research and analyze various legal issues and render opinions on optimal courses of action
Provide general legal support and guidance to Sales team
Understand and demonstrate Essendant’s Core Values & Guiding Actions
Perform other duties as assigned
Skills/Knowledge Required
Significant experience drafting and negotiating contracts. Note that strong transactional background (M&A or real estate) could suffice
Significant experience in leading transactions and/or cross-functional projects
Strong track record in process improvement
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Education And Experience
J.D. from an accredited law school
Admitted to Illinois bar
A minimum of four (4) years prior legal experience
Salary Range: $155,000-$165,000 + Bonus Plan
