Corporate and M&A Law – Senior Associate Jobs in Athens, Attiki, Greece at Bernitsas Law

Title: Corporate and M&A Law – Senior Associate

Company: Bernitsas Law

Location: Athens, Attiki, Greece

Our Corporate and M&A Team

Our practice has advised participants in many of the high value and innovative corporate public and private sector transactions to have taken place in Greece. We advise global and domestic market leaders, small to medium sized enterprises and entrepreneurs from a range of industries, financing institutions, funds and other international investors on their corporate and commercial activities, risk mitigation and compliance.

Our Corporate and M&A team has unparalleled experience in structuring and executing ground-breaking deals in the context of new legislation, market liberalisation and foreign investment.

A significant part of our practice is taken up by the provision of ongoing legal services to clients in relation to the legal issues arising in the course of their day-to-day business activities, corporate governance and ESG compliance requirements, commercial contracts and regulatory compliance, for many of which we have acted for over a decade.

Our aim is to get to know our clients’ individual requirements to ensure we provide a personalised service which is in line with their goals and to build a long-lasting relationship with them.

The Opportunity

This is an opportunity to bring your experience to one of Greece’s most active and respected practices in the field — and to do some of the most complex, high-profile work available in the Greek market.

As a Senior Associate with at least 10 years of experience, you will operate with significant autonomy, take full ownership of transactions and client relationships, and play a meaningful role in shaping the team around you. You will work hand in hand with partners on the firm’s most demanding mandates — bringing your own expertise, judgment, and client relationship management skills to a practice that is already leading the market.

If you are ready for a role that reflects the depth of your experience, this is it.

What You Will Be Doing

• Leading and taking full ownership of various transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, demergers, corporate restructurings, and joint ventures — from inception through closing and with significant autonomy.

• Leading the drafting and review of transaction documentation across the full lifecycle of deals.

• Advising clients independently on regulatory compliance matters relevant to corporate transactions and business activities.

• Directing and overseeing due diligence processes across large, multi-party transactions.

• Managing transaction workstreams across multiple concurrent mandates.

• Providing day-to-day legal support and strategic advice to a broad range of legal entities across various industries.

• Playing an active role in mentoring and developing junior and mid-level associates within the team.

• Building and maintaining direct client relationships across a broad range of sectors and client profiles.

Required Qualifications

Essential:

• At least 10 years of working experience in corporate and commercial law, with substantial M&A transaction experience.

• Bachelor of Laws degree (LLB) with a strong academic record.

• LLM specialized in the areas of Corporate, Commercial or Business Law.

• Admitted to the Athens Bar Association or a regional Bar Association in Greece.

• Fluency in both Greek and English – written and spoken.

A strong plus:

• LLM degree obtained in an English-speaking country, ideally in Corporate, Commercial, or M&A Law.

• Proven experience advising on cross-border transactions or working with international clients.

• Established client relationships in relevant sectors.

Required Skills

• Legal drafting and analytical ability — a demonstrated track record of drafting and negotiating transaction documentation independently and to the highest standard

• Transaction leadership — the ability to own and drive large, multi-party transactions from start to finish

• Client relationship management — experienced in client-facing situations, in both Greek and English

• Judgment and autonomy — the capacity to make sound legal and strategic calls with limited supervision

• Deadline management — ability to work efficiently under time pressure across multiple concurrent matters

• Attention to detail

• Business acumen — the commercial awareness to understand clients’ needs and translate them into pragmatic, effective legal solutions

• Mentoring and team leadership — a genuine commitment to the development of junior colleagues and the motivation of the team

• Commitment to quality — a personal standard that matches the calibre of work this practice is known for
