Venn Group is delighted to be partnering with East Herts District Council to recruit a Contracts and Procurement Lawyer to join its Legal Services team. About the Role
As the council’s Contracts and Procurement Lawyer, you will:
Deliver high-quality, solution-focused legal advice on a broad range of complex contract and procurement matters
Lead on high-value infrastructure, construction, and services contracts including contract disputes and drafting of tender documentation
Act as the council’s lead legal negotiator for contracts and procurement
Ensure compliance with procurement regulations, governance frameworks and internal procedures
Support strategic transformation projects and contribute to the continuous development of the council’s legal service

About You
To succeed in this role, you will need:
A qualification as a solicitor, barrister, or legal executive with a current practising certificate (or eligibility for one)
Strong working knowledge of contract and procurement law within a public sector context
Experience handling a varied caseload including EU-level procurement contracts, contract disputes, and drafting complex documentation
Confidence in advising senior officers and elected members on strategic legal matters
A proactive, solutions-led approach with excellent communication and analytical skills
