POSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides skilled and efficient administrative, legal and office management support for the Department of Legal Services. Enhances the effectiveness of all attorneys by monitoring the progress of all departmental matters, to include claims and litigation, as well as record retention requirements and transactional matters. Assures the prompt performance of duties, the recognition of priorities, and the sensitivity of matters involved. Exercises individual initiative and independent judgment in relieving staff from minor and routine matters. Complies with instructions from legal staff and preserves the confidential nature of information. Maintains good public relations and a good working relationship with coworkers and other University Health employees at all levels of the organization, physicians, patients, Board members, public officials, and members of the community-at-large.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Two (2) years’ college education, paralegal studies program or business school is required. A Bachelor’s degree in management or law-related field is preferred. Completion of a paralegal program is highly desirable. Experience in a responsible legal secretarial position is required. Experience in a hospital/medical and/or local government environment is preferred.
