We’re seeking a detail-oriented, hardworking, and proactive Family Law Paralegal to support our attorneys in managing cases, drafting documents, coordinating schedules, and assisting with client communications. This role requires strong organizational skills, the ability to stay ahead in a fast-paced environment, and proficiency with legal technology. Ideal candidates will have relevant, real world family law experience right here in Maine, with a track record of providing high-quality client and attorney support.
Compensation:
$27 to $35 per hour plus extremely competitive benefits
Responsibilities:
Manage client and attorney calendars for court dates, client meetings, mediations, and deadlines.
Assist attorneys by organizing case files and documents for court and meetings.
Prepare trial binders for attorneys in anticipation of litigation.
Provide direct legal support at trial for complex divorce matters.
Support family law litigation through research, drafting, and discovery preparation.
Open cases, process court documents, and prepare discovery summaries.
Handle client communications with professionalism, including calls and de-escalation.
Must be intimately familiar with Mac computers.
Proficient with or have the ability to utilize MyCase as case management software.
Qualifications:
1-3 years minimum experience working as a family law paralegal
Bachelor’s degree.
Completion of an ABA-approved paralegal certificate program (Associate’s degree or proprietary school program in paralegal studies) is preferred, although significant experience is acceptable in lieu of a certificate.
Legal research and legal writing skills.
Integrity and discretion in handling confidential matters.
Strong time-management and organizational abilities.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to manage client interactions professionally.
