Job description:
Team size: 2 attys to support (head atty, associate,) paralegal candidate, and LSY per team.
8-10 cases at once per team
Majority of cases settle. Firm only goes to trial every 2-3 years. (A lot of other cases are prepared for but don’t go to trial however.)
Will have 4-7 yr long cases which entail up to 70 or 80 depos, hundreds of thousands of pages of discovery / exhibits, 20-30 motions i.e motions to compel, demurrers and 2-3 mo long trials. Varies in each dept
Our paras are true paras: manage case from start to finish, i.e find out why if case isn’t moving forward like it should
Review legal documents
Draft initial complaint on new cases
Draft meet and confer letters for the head/associate attorney before these go out
Draft legal documents i.e motions, motions to compel discovery
Draft discovery, responses to discovery
Don’t just draft discovery (they will be taught a lot here!)
Delve into cases heavily with the attorneys
Provide support for attorney’s depositions
Conduct research
(There are dedicated litigation secretaries who e-file and manage attorneys calendar.)
Software: Implementing Filevine currently, also use Foxit and MS Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Soft Skills:
Self-starter, good critical thinking skills, come up with solutions without asking another staff member to do this for them. Smart, intelligent, wonderful team! Expectation of staff is that they will think about how they can accomplish something. Then, provide that for the attorneys. I.e here is what I think we should do. Good learning experience for the Paralegals

Pay: $70,000.00 – $90,000.00 per year
