Contract Estate Planning Attorney (1099) – Remote w/ Local Client Meetings Jobs in Fenton, MI at Lee Private Client Law
Lee Private Client Law, PLLC is a solo estate planning and asset protection practice in Fenton, Michigan, serving business owners, professionals, and families along the US-23 corridor. The practice is low-volume and flat-fee by design. Clients come here because the work is done carefully, not quickly.
I am looking for an experienced Michigan attorney to take on drafting and client meetings on an independent contractor basis. This is substantive, turn-key legal work for someone who wants real matters without business development, marketing, or overhead. I handle client acquisition, billing, and engagement. You handle the planning work.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
– Draft revocable living trusts, pour-over wills, durable financial powers of attorney, patient advocate designations, HIPAA authorizations, and certificates of trust
– Conduct design and review meetings with clients by video or in person
– Prepare Michigan Lady Bird deeds, quitclaim deeds, property transfer affidavits, and assignments of closely held LLC membership interests
– Review intake materials for compliance with Michigan’s Estates and Protected Individuals Code and Michigan real property law
– Attend occasional in-person signing ceremonies with clients, compensated separately with mileage
– Deliver initial draft packages within 5 to 7 business days of a completed intake file
REQUIRED
– Active license and good standing with the State Bar of Michigan
– Three or more years of substantive Michigan estate planning and trust drafting experience
– Able to run a client meeting independently and explain a plan in plain language
– Your own professional liability coverage
– Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
– Secure remote setup and disciplined handling of confidential client information
PREFERRED
– Experience with WealthCounsel, Wealth Docx, Interactive Legal, or a comparable drafting platform
– Active Michigan notary commission, or willingness to obtain one
– Trust administration or probate experience
– Existing contract work with other firms
COMPENSATION
– Standard trust package: $1,000 to $1,500 per matter. Covers the revocable living trust, pour-over will, powers of attorney, patient advocate designation, HIPAA authorization, certificate of trust, one deed, and the associated client meetings.
– Complex or multi-entity matters: $1,800 to $2,500 per matter. Irrevocable trusts, multi-entity assignments, and complex distribution structures.
– Signing ceremonies: $175 to $250 each, mileage included.
– Advisory or custom work outside a defined package: $125 to $175 per hour.
HOW THIS WORKS
This is an independent contractor engagement, not employment. Compensation is a flat fee per matter, scoped and agreed before you begin. You set your own hours, work from your own office, and are free to take work from other firms.
Current volume is roughly 3 to 4 matters per month, with room to grow as the practice does. Drafting is fully remote. In-person travel is occasional and limited to Genesee, Livingston, and Oakland counties.
