Contract-based New York Family Law Litigation Attorney Opportunity – 5–10 Hours/Week Jobs in New York, NY at TFF

We are a national network of experienced, high-level freelance attorneys and paralegals who provide on-demand support for both short-term and long-term legal projects for our client law firms.
Due to increased demand, we are now interviewing for qualified, experienced, and dependable New York Family / Matrimonial Litigation Attorneys to provide ongoing litigation and appearance support.
This opportunity is expected to start at approximately 5–10 hours per week per attorney, with the opportunity for hours and responsibilities to increase as the relationship develops. The firm is looking to build a stable, long-term team of freelance attorneys rather than fill a traditional full-time position.
Attorney Responsibilities:
- Manage and support New York family and matrimonial litigation matters throughout the litigation cycle
- Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, correspondence, and other litigation-related documents
- Conduct legal research and assist with case strategy
- Manage active case files and ensure matters continue moving forward
- Communicate regularly and professionally with clients, the supervising attorney, and firm staff
- Prepare for and attend hearings, conferences, and other court appearances
- Provide in-person appearance coverage in one or more New York City/Long Island counties as needed
- Assist with other litigation-related responsibilities based on the needs of individual cases
Attorney Requirements:
- Licensed and in good standing to practice law in the State of New York
- Strong experience in New York family and matrimonial litigation
- Experience managing litigation matters throughout the case lifecycle
- Strong legal research, drafting, and litigation skills
- Highly responsive and dependable, with excellent communication and follow-through
- Strong client communication and relationship-management skills
- Ability to independently manage assignments and meet deadlines
- Must be willing and available to handle in-person court appearances
- Ability to provide coverage in at least one of the following counties: Kings, Queens, New York (Manhattan), Bronx, Suffolk, and/or Nassau
Opportunity Highlights:
- Approximately 5–10 hours per week to start, with potential to increase
- Long-term freelance opportunity
- Combination of back-end litigation support and in-person appearances
- Approximately two in-person hearings per week currently, although appearance needs will fluctuate
- The firm is open to working with multiple freelance attorneys, so candidates do not need to be available to cover every county
- Opportunity to take on additional files and hours as the firm becomes comfortable with the attorney’s work quality, responsiveness, and reliability
Our Attorney pay rate starts at $80/hour.
