Contract Attorney – Disaster Recovery Jobs in Fort Myers, FL at Florida Rural Legal Services (FRLS)
All staff roles are temporary positions anticipated to end in November 2025.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Report to the Charter Commission General Counsel.
Review the City Charter, prior changes and their impacts, and proposals submitted by the public, interested parties, elected officials, and the Commission.
Work closely with Commission staff and Members in developing and drafting amendments.
Perform other duties, as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must possess a J.D. from an accredited school of law and be admitted to practice law in New York State and have at least five (5) years of relevant legal experience.
Superior writing, research, and analytical skills, and strong communication and organizational abilities.
Familiarity with the City’s budget, land use process, the balance of power between elected officials, or other structural issues.
Familiarity with the New York City Charter.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Required to be in office five (5) days a week.
New York City residency required within 90 days of appointment.
