Salary: R18 000 – R20 000 per month
Start Date: 1 May 2026
Soteria Health and Safety is looking for a competent and proactive Construction Safety Officer to join our team on a residential apartment block refurbishment project in the Cape Town CBD.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and monitoring site health and safety requirements, ensuring legal compliance, and supporting project teams with day-to-day safety coordination in line with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Construction Regulations, and SACPCMP requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct daily site inspections and safety audits
- Facilitate toolbox talks and site safety inductions
- Monitor contractor compliance with site health and safety requirements
- Assist with incident and accident investigations
- Compile, maintain, and manage health and safety files
- Manage permits and legal appointments relevant to site activities
- Prepare reports and maintain accurate safety records
- Liaise with contractors, site management, and clients on safety matters
- Fulfil duties expected of a Construction Health and Safety Officer on a construction site
Minimum Requirements
- SACPCMP registration as a CHSO
- SAMTRAC or equivalent health and safety qualification
- Fall Protection Planner qualification
- Incident Investigation training
- Risk Assessment training
- 2–3 years’ experience as a Construction Safety Officer
- Experience on refurbishment and residential construction projects will be advantageous
Required Skills and Competencies
- Strong administrative and organisational ability
- Good report writing skills
- Strong site presence and ability to engage with contractors
- Good understanding of contractor compliance requirements
- High attention to detail
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Drive

- Own transport is not required
- Position is based on site in Cape Town CBD
