Summary of the Role

Compliance Specialist supports Terumo Thailand and actively collaborates with APAC Legal and Compliance function. This role is responsible for advising and giving consultancy on Compliance matters pertaining to Terumo’s business in Thailand. The Compliance Specialist will actively partner with the management in Thailand to drive a culture of values, ethics, and compliance in alignment with Terumo Core Values, Terumo Group Code of Conduct, and applicable global, regional and local policies of Terumo. This position plays a critical role in reviewing, monitoring, and advising the business in making sure the existing and new business models, promotional activities, and interactions with healthcare professionals and government officers comply with applicable laws, regulations and industry codes. The role also ensures alignment with global best practices to support sustainable and compliant business growth

Key Functions / Responsibilities

Compliance Work

  • Be an expert / develop expertise for applicable anti-bribery and anti-trust laws, including but not limited to FCPA, UKBA, Penal Code of Thailand, Trade Competition Act of Thailand, Public Procurement Regulations, and compliance best practices related to government tenders, public procurement, and engagements with government customers, healthcare organizations, and healthcare professionals.
  • Stay updated with applicable laws, regulations, regional and local industrial code of conduct, global best practices, and latest enforcement actions from regulators and authorities related to Medical Devices and Pharmaceuticals Industry to benchmark current operations of Terumo to identify gaps (if any) and advise on corrective actions.
  • Stay abreast of the Medical Technology industry, actively represent Terumo and participate in regional and local industry forums (e.g. APACMed, Thaimed) to track emerging compliance risks, trends, and best practices in Thailand as well as APAC region.
  • Conducting periodical risk assessment to identify, review and evaluate material compliance risks to the company and timely updating Management Team, Regional and Head Office of Legal & Compliance Department including through Quarterly Report on Compliance matters.
  • Collaborate with APAC L&C function to cascade, implement and adopt global and regional policies on compliances matters in Thailand and as necessary develop local guidance, procedures, and SOPs including guiding, advising and coaching business associates to raise their knowledge on following and complying with such policies, procedures and SOPs.
  • Plan, develop and conduct annual compliance training to all associates on any existing and new policies, standards, procedures and SOPs.
  • Review, monitor, assess compliance risks, including conducting risk-based due diligence, and liaise with regional L&C function for implementing control measures to address risks emanating from third parties such as distributors, sub-distributors, channel partners, and high-risk vendors and service providers.
  • Pre-reviewing and early engaging with business teams for advising on planning, structuring, and implementing promotional and educational activities with healthcare organizations and healthcare professionals. Be responsible to review, advise and approve / reject proposals on Charitable Donations, Educational or Research Grants to 3rd parties, and Terumo’s own education and promotional events involving engagement and interactions with healthcare professionals.
  • Coordinating, consulting and effectively explaining the current business model, requirements, and constraint of Thailand Market to Regional and Head Office for liaising and collaborating to find appropriate solutions including modulations and adaptations in existing or new business models to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations and global best practices.
  • Plan and develop Annual Compliance Activity Plan (in collaboration and alignment with APAC L&C function) and be responsible in implementing such plan in Thailand each year.
  • Promote speak up culture and be available to listen compliance concerns of associates in Thailand and keep updated the local and regional stakeholders about evolution of the culture of compliance and ethics. Liaise and collaborate with APAC L&C function in handling and investigating helpline/ whistle-blow reports and support in implementing and tracking of corrective and preventive measures.
  • Provide compliance support on external risk factors, including regulatory enquiries, investigations from enforcement authorities, litigations and matters posing business continuity or reputational risks.
  • Develop knowledge on data protection and privacy management and gradually participate and support regional Data Protection and Privacy Program.

Key Indicator

  • Timely and accurate updates, alerts, and reports to management and stakeholders on evolving industry policies, compliance risks and enforcement trends.
  • Handling consulting requests from business and efficient review and approval of commercial and educational engagement with healthcare professionals and healthcare organizations.
  • Conducting necessary training as per the annual compliance action plan.
  • Handling of all helpline whistle-blow matters and coordinating of investigations and implementation of corrective actions (if any)
  • Timely response to all associates for any consultancy request and/or questions, related Compliance Policies.

Functional / Technical Skills

  • Advanced compliance and regulatory expertise in anti-bribery, anti-corruption, and competition laws including FCPA, UKBA, Penal Code of Thailand, with ability to provide clear, practical, and applicable compliance advice as a business partner.
  • Strong compliance advisory and risk‑assessment skills, capable of identifying, analyzing, and mitigating compliance risks associated with business activities, promotional practices, and interactions with healthcare professionals and government officials.
  • Proven ability to handle sensitive and confidential compliance matters, including investigations, allegations, and internal reviews, with sound judgment, discretion, and strong analytical capabilities.
  • Up‑to‑date knowledge of compliance trends and regulatory developments, particularly within the MedTech and healthcare industries, ensuring continuous alignment with applicable laws, internal policies, and global compliance best practices.
  • All other compliance‑related competencies required to effectively support and fulfill the responsibilities of the Compliance Specialist role.

Education & Experience

  • Strong practical experience in compliance.
  • A law degree is advantageous but not mandatory, provided the candidate demonstrates solid hands‑on compliance expertise and sound regulatory judgment.
  • A minimum of 3 – 5 Years of working experiences in Compliance within Medical Devices or Pharmaceutical Industry, or other highly regulated healthcare industries.
  • Native Thai language with strong English communication skills, especially in writing, sufficient for drafting compliance guidance, policies, reports, and engaging with regional and global stakeholders
