POSITION OBJECTIVE

We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Compliance Officer, Financial Crime to join our growing team. This role is crucial in bolstering our operational financial crime prevention efforts across the group, focusing on key areas such as customer due diligence and onboarding, transaction monitoring, screening and operational elements including list management, scenario management, and the development of robust Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of financial crime compliance and be eager to contribute to a dynamic regulatory environment.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a team striving to grow and operate in a fast-moving start-up environment specific to the payments and cards sector, including activities involving digital assets.

Responsibilities:

Manage the processes related to onboarding of customers, risk assessment, due diligence, alert management and screening

Support the development, implementation, and refinement of financial crime detection scenarios and screening scenarios within our monitoring systems

Develop, document, and maintain comprehensive Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for various financial crime compliance processes across the group

Provide operational support and guidance on financial crime matters to various business units

Stay abreast of evolving financial crime regulations, industry best practices, and technological advancements

Collaborate with internal stakeholders (e.g., Legal, Risk, Operations, IT) to ensure effective implementation of compliance policies and procedures

Contribute to internal training initiatives on financial crime awareness and operational procedures

Support audit and regulatory examinations by providing necessary documentation and information

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Law, Business Administration, or a related field

5+ years of experience in compliance, with a strong focus on financial crime, Anti-Money Laundering (AML), and regulatory matters, preferably within the payments industry

Demonstrated understanding of financial crime typologies, regulatory requirements (e.g., AML, CTF, Sanctions), and industry best practices

Proven experience in operational aspects of compliance, including list management and process development

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with keen attention to detail

Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex compliance concepts clearly and concisely

Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a fast-paced environment

Proactive and results-oriented with a strong commitment to ethical conduct

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Desired:

Professional certification in AML (e.g., ACAMS, ICA)

Experience with financial crime monitoring systems and tools

Familiarity with regulatory frameworks specific to the Middle East and internationally (if applicable to the group’s operations)
