Aegean Baltic Bank is seeking a dedicated Compliance Officer, reporting to the Head of Regulatory Compliance Section, to ensure that the Bank adheres to regulatory requirements & internal policies. In this role, the ideal candidate will be responsible for assessing compliance risks, implementing compliance programs, and providing guidance to various departments on compliance matters.
Key Responsibilities
Analyze the regulatory landscape and offer support to management, business owners, and other stakeholders within the Bank
Ensure that the Bank properly identifies and tracks legal and regulatory changes pertinent to its operations, create roadmaps for regulatory compliance, and coordinate or conduct training sessions for the relevant staff
Coordinate with legal advisors, regulatory and supervisory authorities, and other internal control functions as needed
Prepare and/or evaluate the Bank’s policies and procedures, and assist in their implementation
Contribute to the formulation of the yearly compliance action plan and conduct occasional compliance audits to verify the implementation of internal processes and policies, as well as to identify any control deficiencies and opportunities for enhancement
Assist in enhancing and implementing the Bank’s internal control system to prevent and address violations of legal regulations and internal policies
Prepare reports for the Board of Directors and the Bank’s committees on related matters
Prepare and/or coordinate the submission of regulatory reports to the regulatory authorities
Conduct regulatory compliance risk assessment
Assist in promoting a culture of risk and compliance within the Bank through initiatives such as workshops, awareness campaigns, and training sessions
Establish & uphold a formal compliance risk and control program, ensuring that effective controls are implemented to mitigate, monitor, and adequately report risks
Maintain the Department’s files, cases & issues
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Law, Banking, Business Administration or a related field
At least 4 years of experience in AML/Compliance, preferably within the banking industry
Strong knowledge of financial services regulations (Greek & EU)
Proficiency and experience in various regulations relevant to the financial sector (e.g., ESG, MiFID, PSD2, AML/CFT, Sanctions, etc.)
Professional certification is considered a strong plus
Familiarity with the shipping industry will be viewed as a valuable asset
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Agility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
Capability to effectively collaborate in teams as well as work autonomously, including engagement with senior management
Fluent in English (both spoken and written)
