Knight Barry Title is seeking a Commercial Title Examiner! Under general supervision of the Commercial Services Manager, the Commercial Title Examiner examines commercial property titles by researching company title plant, county, city and other public records.
DUTES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Examines commercial property titles or commercial titles of routine complexity in accordance with company and local examining procedures to determine the status of title. Searches, abstracts and analyzes deeds, deeds of trust/mortgages, easements, judgments, tax assessments, mineral reservations and other applicable instruments.
- Examines and compiles reports from searched data and sends out a commitment based on status of title.
- The ability to review and responds to attorney objection letters, which would include reveiwing surveys, underwriting endorsements and preparing proforma policies.
- Responds to various requests from company employees and customers.
- Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Proficient at mapping legal descriptions.
- Analytical ability sufficient to perform tasks that are varied and short term requiring concentration, accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently but also as a team.
- Ability to locate, accurately compile and interpret information affecting status of title to real property.
- Ability to work effectively with others and meet deadlines.
- Ability to operate personal computer and peripherals, copier, microfilm reader, etc.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing, in person and by telephone.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, LICENSING
- High school graduation/equivalent with four years of experience in abstracting and compiling data from public records, including experience with commercial property records, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- As required by local regulations, specialized licensing may be required.
