ATTORNEY IV – ASSISTANT GENERAL COUNSEL / LEGAL UNIT / CALIFORNIA NATURAL RESOURCES AGENCY
The reporting location for this position is Sacramento, CA. This position will work under the general direction of the Deputy Secretary/General Counsel.
As Assistant General Counsel (AGC) in the Natural Resources Agency, this position will work under the general direction of the Deputy Secretary/General Counsel, and in collaboration with the other AGC. The AGC independently performs sensitive and complex legal work for the Natural Resources Agency and collaborates with staff and legal counsel in the 40 departments, boards, commissions, conservancies, and museums within the Agency. The work is challenging, varied, and rewarding as the AGC works with and advises colleagues across the Agency on issues related to energy, water, fire protection, protection of species, tribal matters, and all the work the Agency does to protect the historical, natural, and cultural resources of California.
Flexible Work Schedule: This position is categorized as Office-Centered. The position’s job duties are performed at their designated work location 50% or more of the time within a work month. This position is eligible for hybrid telework under California Government Code Section 14200 for eligible applicants residing in California. All telework schedules are subject to change and may be reevaluated at any time. Specific telework arrangements may be discussed in more detail with the respective hiring manager. Beginning July 1, 2025, it is expected that all employees will be required to work in-person at least four days per week in alignment with Executive Order N-22-25.
The incumbent’s work schedule will be Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Possession of Minimum Qualifications will be verified prior to interview and/or appointment.
