A prestigious law firm is looking to appoint talented Commercial Litigation Associates (Junior & Senior) with 1–6 years’ post-admission experience to strengthen its highly regarded Corporate & Commercial Litigation practice. Duties & Responsibilities
What You’ll Do:
- Drive litigation strategies for complex disputes in sectors like mining, finance, and tech.
- Manage a caseload of commercial litigation matters from inception to resolution, ensuring that all deadlines are met and cases progress efficiently.
- Conduct legal research on relevant statutes, regulations, and case law to develop effective litigation strategies and provide legal advice to clients.
- Advise top-tier clients on commercial and shareholder disputes, urgent applications, and arbitrations.
- Be a key player in corporate investigations—both internal and regulator-driven.
- Draft persuasive court documents and appear in court and arbitrations.
- Work directly with senior partners, forensic consultants, and compliance professionals.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant legal and procedural requirements, including court rules, filing deadlines, and ethical obligations.
- Manage administrative tasks associated with litigation, such as maintaining case files, tracking billable hours, and preparing billing statements for clients.
- Provide strategic legal advice to clients on a wide range of commercial law issues, including contract disputes, corporate governance matters, intellectual property disputes, and commercial real estate litigation.
- Mentor junior associates and guide candidate attorneys.
Desired Experience & Qualification
Your Experience & Skills:
- LLB and admission as an attorney in South Africa.
- 1–6 years’ PQE with litigation experience in a major commercial law firm.
- Strong understanding of South African court procedures, commercial law, and ADR mechanisms.
- Confident courtroom presence and meticulous legal drafting ability.
- Solid grasp of dispute resolution tactics and corporate investigations.
- Excellent client communication and stakeholder management.
- Driven, team-oriented, and always ready to learn.
- Experience managing client relationships and providing strategic legal advice to businesses and organizations across various industries.
- Continuing legal education and willingness to stay updated on developments in commercial law and litigation practices.

- Arbitration or mediation experience.
- Exposure to cross-border compliance frameworks.
- Investigations or forensic consulting experience.
- Exposure to litigation involving multinational corporations.
- Comfortable navigating confidential and high stakes matters.
