Job Summary: We are seeking a passionate and experienced immigration attorney to join our team and support humanitarian legal services for Immigrants and refugees, Ukrainian and Afghan parolees. This full-time position will focus on delivering direct legal services, outreach, and education to support pathways to lawful permanent residency and family reunification. The ideal candidate will be committed to immigrant and refugee advocacy and demonstrate strong legal and cross-cultural communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

Legal Services Delivery:

Provide direct representation and assistance with applications such as:
Family reunification under I-130 and I-730 petitions
I-134A declarations of financial support and related family reunification programs
Humanitarian Parole renewal and re-parole applications
Adjustment of Status (I-485)
Employment Authorization (I-765) and Travel Documents (I-131)
N-400 Naturalization
Temporary Protected Status (TPS) and related initial/renewal applications
Special Immigrant Visa (SIV) processing for Afghans
Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS)
Asylum applications and related filings
Requests for Certificates of Citizenship and FOIA requests

Representation: Represent clients before U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), the Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR), and the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA). Attend and prepare clients for USCIS interviews, EOIR hearings, and other relevant legal proceedings

Collaboration and Outreach: Coordinate with local resettlement staff and community partners to identify legal service needs among populations. Conduct community legal education sessions, legal clinics, and Know Your Rights presentations tailored to Ukrainian and Afghan parolees. Develop and distribute legal information materials in relevant languages

Program Reporting and Compliance: Maintain detailed and timely case notes and documentation in line with funder requirements. Assist in tracking service delivery data for internal and external reporting, including compliance with ORR and state contracts

Supervision and Training: Provide oversight and functional supervision to the legal assistant or accredited representative(s). Support training and capacity-building for program and partner staff on immigration legal issues

Other Duties: Participate in relevant continuing legal education (CLE) to maintain licensure and keep up with evolving immigration policy. And other responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Refugee Resettlement and Legal Services

Qualifications & Skills:

Education:

Juris Doctor (J.D.) and active, good-standing license to practice law in any U.S. state

Experience:

Minimum of 2 years of experience practicing immigration law, particularly humanitarian and family-based immigration
Experience working with refugees, Ukrainian and/or Afghan populations strongly preferred

Skills and Competencies:

Excellent oral and written communication skills, including intercultural competency
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, client-centered environment
High proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and legal case management systems (e.g., LawLogix, Clio, or similar)

Preferred Language Skills:

Fluency in or ability to work with interpreters in Ukrainian, Russian, Dari, Farsi, Arabic, highly preferred.

Compensation and Benefits:

Salary Range: $105,000 – $120,000 annually. Full-Time, Monday to Friday, and Hybrid.

This position is full-time, 37.5 hours/week. The salary is commensurate with the selected candidate’s qualifications and experience.
