A prestigious U.S. law firm is seeking an experienced lawyer to join its global Risk team in London. This is a highly visible role offering the opportunity to work closely with partners, business services leaders and international colleagues on a broad range of client contractual, commercial and risk-related matters.

The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the firm's engagement with clients, leading negotiations on client terms and advising on contractual commitments, while helping to drive consistency, efficiency and best practice across the business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review, draft and negotiate a wide range of client-facing agreements, including engagement terms, outside counsel guidelines, confidentiality agreements and framework arrangements.
  • Advise partners and stakeholders on contractual obligations, commercial considerations and risk-related issues arising from client requirements.
  • Assess legal, regulatory and operational risks within client agreements, providing practical and commercially focused solutions.
  • Support the management of client compliance requests, audits and due diligence exercises, coordinating responses with relevant business teams.
  • Work collaboratively with departments including Finance, Business Development, Information Security and other business support functions to ensure client commitments can be effectively implemented.
  • Develop and maintain contract templates, guidance materials, playbooks and internal processes to enhance consistency and efficiency.
  • Contribute to ongoing initiatives aimed at improving the delivery, scalability and effectiveness of commercial legal support across the firm.

Key Skills & Experience Required:

  • Qualified lawyer in England & Wales with experience gained either in private practice or an in-house legal function.
  • Strong background in reviewing, drafting and negotiating commercial contracts and client terms.
  • Excellent judgement with the ability to identify risk, analyse complex issues and deliver pragmatic, business-oriented advice.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with confidence engaging with senior lawyers, business teams and clients.
  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • A collaborative approach and the ability to build strong working relationships across international teams.
  • Proactive, adaptable and solutions-focused, with a genuine interest in improving processes and supporting business objectives.
