About the Role
A leading engineering and construction-focused organization is seeking a Contracts Attorney to support complex infrastructure, design-build, and professional services projects. This role sits at the intersection of legal risk management and business execution, partnering closely with project teams and leadership to ensure contracts enable efficient project delivery while protecting the business.

What You’ll Do
- Draft & Negotiate Contracts: Lead end-to-end negotiation of MSAs, general conditions, subcontractor agreements, and vendor contracts
- Risk Management: Identify and mitigate legal and commercial risks through contract structuring, indemnities, and limitation of liability provisions
- Project Support: Advise project teams during bid and execution phases, including contract interpretation, change orders, and dispute avoidance strategies
- Insurance Coordination: Review contract insurance requirements and partner with brokers/internal teams to align coverage
- Templates & Playbooks: Develop and refine contract templates, standards, and negotiation playbooks
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure contracts comply with applicable federal, state, and local regulations
- Cross-Functional Partnership: Translate legal concepts into practical guidance for business stakeholders
What We’re Looking For
- JD + Active U.S. Bar License (TX, CA, or MN preferred)
- 5+ years of legal experience, with a strong focus on construction, engineering, or design industries
- Experience with design-build delivery models and large-scale infrastructure projects
- Familiarity with AIA and/or EJCDC contract forms
- Strong background in commercial contracting (MSAs, vendor, and project agreements)
- Proven ability to balance legal risk with business objectives in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Preferred Experience
- In-house experience supporting engineering, construction, or real estate organizations
- Experience advising on professional liability and insurance structures
- Exposure to litigation or dispute resolution in construction contexts
