Our client is a globally established organisation with a strong and growing presence across Asia Pacific, operating in a highly commercial and cross-border environment. This opportunity sits within a collaborative regional legal team supporting diverse business lines.
Key Responsibilities of this Commercial Counsel, APAC:
- Provide legal support across multiple APAC jurisdictions, working closely with regional stakeholders
- Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements (including supply, services, and complex project-related contracts)
- Advise on legal risk, compliance, and business strategy in a practical, solutions-oriented manner
- Partner with cross-functional teams on regional and cross-border initiatives
- Manage external counsel and oversee competing legal matters and priorities
- Contribute to the development of legal frameworks, policies, and best practices
- Work closely with Japanese-speaking stakeholders across the business
Key Requirements of this Commercial Counsel, APAC:
- Qualified lawyer (Singapore or other common law jurisdiction preferred)
- Mandatory: Fluency in Japanese (business level or above) – ability to support stakeholders and review documentation in Japanese
- Strong experience in commercial contracting and general corporate advisory work
- Ability to operate independently in a fast-paced, regional environment
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence across cultures and seniority levels
- Pragmatic, commercially minded and able to provide clear, business-focused advice
