Job Type: This is a part-time (20-25 hours per week), fully remote position.
Job Description: Schaffner Law LLC is seeking an experienced family law paralegal or law student who has an interest in practicing family law to join the firm on a part-time basis. The paralegal will support an experienced attorney in his family law practice, performing tasks such as drafting court filings, preparing financial disclosures and discovery, and communicating with clients and other professionals regarding case management and scheduling. We are seeking a diligent, detail-oriented individual who possesses excellent organizational and communication skills, has experience or the ability to utilize legal software such as Clio and Math4Law, and is proficient in using Microsoft Office, including Excel. The ideal candidate must have the ability to work efficiently remotely, with the availability to meet with the attorney in our DTC office on an occasional basis to perform tasks such as copying, scanning, and preparing trial notebooks.
Responsibilities:
Assist attorneys in preparing, reviewing, and organizing legal documents in family law cases, including divorce, custody, and modification of court orders;
Draft correspondence and emails to clients;
Communicate with clients by phone to answer questions and obtain relevant documents;
Manage and maintain electronic client files, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality;
Prepare and file necessary court documents and forms in compliance with deadlines; and
Communicate and collaborate effectively with our attorneys.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 3 years of paralegal experience in the area of family law or civil litigation, or completion of 2 years of law school with an interest in practicing family law and working while attending school.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail.
Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize workload effectively.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with Clio and Math4Law software a plus.
High level of professionalism and the ability to maintain client confidentiality.
Compensation and Benefits:
Salary range $35-$50 per hour, based on experience.
