Head of Department – Civil Litigation Solicitor

The Role

We are looking for an experienced Civil Litigation Solicitor to lead our Civil Litigation Department in Manchester. This is a key role in our firm, ideal for someone ready to drive performance, manage a varied caseload, and play a strategic part in our ongoing success.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and lead the Civil Litigation Department.
Oversee a caseload including contract disputes, property matters, debt recovery, and landlord-tenant issues.
Provide clear legal advice and guidance to clients.
Draft and review complex legal documents.
Represent clients in court, mediations, and negotiations.
Mentor and supervise junior solicitors and support staff.
Track case progress and departmental targets.
Stay informed on legal developments in civil litigation.
Support business development through networking and client engagement.
Work with senior leadership to align departmental and firm-wide goals.

The Person
Qualified Solicitor (England and Wales) with at least 5 years’ PQE.
Strong civil litigation experience across varied matters.
Proven leadership or team management background.
Confident advocate with excellent negotiation skills.
Able to manage your own caseload while guiding a team.
Commercially aware with a strategic outlook.
Skilled in legal research and case management systems.
Excellent communication and client service skills.
