Job Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Civil / Disability Rights Attorney to assist me in filing a complaint against a business that violated my disability rights and may have committed a crime in the process.
Responsibilities
- Provide legal counsel and advocacy for clients with disabilities regarding their civil rights and access issues
- Conduct thorough legal research using tools such as LexisNexis and Westlaw to support case development
- Draft legal documents including motions, briefs, contracts, and pleadings with precision and clarity
- Prepare for and participate in court depositions, hearings, and trial proceedings to effectively represent clients’ interests
- Engage in negotiations with opposing parties to reach favorable resolutions while maintaining client objectives
- Manage complex litigation cases involving personal injury law, employment law, land use, or family law matters related to disability rights
- Stay informed on evolving statutes, regulations, and case law related to tribal law, environmental law, securities law, workers’ compensation law, and other relevant areas
Experience
- Proven experience in general & commercial litigation with a focus on civil rights or disability law
- Demonstrated ability to handle personal injury cases from inception through trial preparation
- Strong background in legal research and statutory legal research techniques using LexisNexis and Westlaw platforms
- Experience drafting contracts, legal motions, pleadings, and conducting procedural law research
- Familiarity with court depositions, trial preparation strategies, and client communication best practices
- Knowledge of employment law case experience and legal administrative procedures within a law office setting
- Excellent writing skills with the ability to produce clear legal documentation and advocacy materials
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
- Expertise in estate planning, environmental law, immigration law, landlord-tenant law, family law, securities law, patent law, tribal law & regulations, workers’ compensation law
- Strong negotiation skills coupled with effective legal negotiation strategies
- Experience in legal case management software and familiarity with procedural laws across jurisdictions
- Ability to conduct comprehensive legal research using LexisNexis and Westlaw platforms efficiently
- Exceptional communication skills for client interaction and courtroom advocacy
