ZTE Omni Trucking is seeking a highly experienced Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) to lead and manage the company’s compliance strategy. The CCO will be responsible for ensuring that ZTE Omni Trucking adheres to all applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies within the trucking and logistics industry. This role requires a strategic thinker with extensive knowledge of regulatory requirements, risk management, and the ability to develop and implement systems that ensure full compliance across all operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Compliance Strategy Development: Develop and implement a comprehensive compliance strategy to ensure that ZTE Omni Trucking adheres to all federal, state, and local regulations relevant to the logistics and transportation industry.
Regulatory Monitoring: Keep up to date with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards, ensuring that the company remains compliant with evolving legal requirements in the transportation sector.
Risk Management: Identify compliance risks and implement mitigation strategies to minimize legal, financial, and operational risks associated with non-compliance. Manage internal audits to identify gaps and areas for improvement.
Policy Development & Implementation: Establish, update, and maintain compliance-related policies and procedures, ensuring that all employees understand and follow them. Train staff at all levels to recognize and prevent compliance risks.
Compliance Reporting: Report to the executive team and board of directors on the status of compliance and risk management efforts. Provide regular updates and recommendations for improvements.
Internal Audits & Investigations: Lead and oversee internal compliance audits, investigate potential violations of laws and company policies, and develop corrective action plans to address any compliance issues.
Data Privacy & Security: Oversee the company’s data privacy and security compliance efforts, ensuring that all customer and business data are handled in compliance with regulations such as GDPR, CCPA, and other relevant data protection laws.
Training & Education: Develop and implement training programs to ensure that all employees understand the compliance requirements specific to their roles. Promote a culture of compliance across the organization.
External Compliance Liaison: Serve as the primary point of contact with external regulators, law enforcement, and auditors. Manage and respond to inquiries, inspections, and investigations from government agencies or other regulatory bodies.
Reporting Violations & Corrective Actions: Ensure that any compliance violations are properly documented, investigated, and reported. Take appropriate corrective and disciplinary actions when necessary.
Collaboration with Other Departments: Work closely with senior management, legal, HR, operations, and other departments to ensure that compliance is integrated into the company’s overall operations and strategy.
Qualifications:
Experience: Proven experience as a Chief Compliance Officer, Compliance Director, or in a senior compliance management role within the logistics, trucking, or transportation industry, with a deep understanding of industry-specific regulations.
Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of the trucking, logistics, and transportation industries and the specific regulatory requirements, including the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), Department of Transportation (DOT), and environmental laws.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Law, Finance, or a related field. A law degree (JD), Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional (CCEP), or similar certifications are preferred.
Leadership Skills: Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to guide teams and influence senior leadership to create a culture of compliance throughout the organization.
Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to assess complex compliance issues and develop practical solutions. Ability to make decisions that balance compliance with operational needs.
Communication Skills: Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to explain complex regulatory requirements in simple terms and present compliance reports to senior leadership and external regulators.
Attention to Detail: High attention to detail and a meticulous approach to risk management and policy development.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
Experience in managing regulatory and compliance issues within the logistics and trucking industry, specifically related to fleet management, safety regulations, and environmental requirements.
Familiarity with international regulations and global compliance standards, particularly for companies operating in multiple jurisdictions.
Knowledge of IT systems used for compliance tracking, such as compliance management software or tools for audit and risk management.
