Location & Travel Demands
This remote position can be performed from anywhere in North Texas including: Amarillo, Texas Panhandle, Lubbock, or the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. This position will require monthly travel within the Texas Panhandle. Travel to other locations in Texas periodically required.
Job Summary
Texas Immigration Law Council is hiring a Managing Attorney to help immigrants access justice by supporting by leading bold initiatives to increase immigrants access to immigration legal services.
Outreach & Advocacy
Build coalitions that engage traditional and non-traditional allies to significantly increase the number of immigrants that know their rights and are able obtain legal assistance.
Develop and distribute legal resources to attorneys, professionals, advocates and immigrant communities that meet the needs of low-income individuals in the Texas Panhandle.
Facilitate Knowledge Exchange & Access to Justice
Facilitate the sharing of legal resources, best practices, and trends with attorneys and legal practitioners working throughout the Texas Panhandle through working groups, trainings and legal clinics.
Assist organizations develop innovative strategies to incorporate technology, pro bono resources, or other strategies to expand their legal reach into underserved geographical areas of the Texas Panhandle.
Respond to technical assistance requests from attorneys who are assisting low-income immigrants and refugees in the Texas Panhandle.
Qualifications
J.D. degree and active licensure as an attorney.
Minimum of 3 years of practicing immigration law.
Deep commitment to bringing about change, trying new strategies and approaches so more immigrants can access justice.
Leading coalitions and a commitment to a collaborative, non-partisan leadership style.
Deep commitment to upholding a nonpartisan stance when executing all aspects of policy work.
Technology proficiency. Familiarity and interest in leveraging emerging social media, digital tools, and platforms to move forward the organization’s goals.
Commitment to fostering a culture that values individuals and perspectives from all backgrounds, identities, and experiences.
Compensation & Benefits
$100,000 to $125,000 per year, commensurate with experience. Generous benefits include employee and dependent health and dental insurance, 401(k), flexible work schedules, vacation and holidays, and professional development opportunities.
