Chief Deputy/Deputy County Attorney (Prosecution of juvenile, misdemeanor, and felony cases) Jobs in Gillette, WY at Campbell County
Central Virginia Legal Aid Society (CVLAS), in partnership with the Richmond Heirs’ Property Network, seeks a full-time, grant funded staff attorney focused on heirs’ property. Heirs’ property is real estate that has passed between generations without clear documentation or legal title. It may involve multiple owners or “tangled title”. The attorney will assist clients with clearing titles and obtaining the full legal rights of homeownership.
The person selected for this role will:
Maintain an active caseload of heirs’ property clients
Provide client advice and counsel on real estate, probate, and other homeownership issues
Draft, execute, and file real estate and probate documents
Litigate adverse possession, partition, and quiet title actions in local courts
Conduct legal research and monitor developments in laws affecting property, probate, and inheritance.
Engage in outreach, strategic partnership building, and community education in heirs’ property related matters
Participate in a monthly case review with other attorneys in the Richmond Heirs’ Property Network
Collaborate with the CVLAS Pro Bono team to ensure that eligible clients receive life planning documents such as wills, powers of attorney, and advance medical directives
Maintain cases in CVLAS’ case management system (including court and/or hearing dates, pertinent documents, case notes, and hours spent on case work)
Must possess the following:
An active Virginia State Bar license
Excellent writing, communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
Strong oral and negotiation skills
Knowledge of real property, estate administration, and elderly law and/or experience in these practice areas and practice experience are preferred
Salary range $70,000 – $90,000 depending on experience
