General Summary

Under the general supervision of the Court Administrator, has the responsibility to assist with the management, coordination and oversight of the non-judicial function of the trial courts. Responsibilities include assisting in the preparation, presentation and implementation of the budget; oversight of accounting and other financial matters; interviewing, training and supervising the clerical, professional and managerial staff. Instrumental in the planning, development and implementation of policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with statutes and court rules.

Starting pay is dependent on an applicant’s relevant experience.

Essential Functions

Initiate and implement projects designed to improve the effective operation of the court.
Oversee daily operations of the District Court, including personnel, policy creation and implementation of department improvements. May assist with the oversight of other divisions and programs for the courts.
Assists the Trial Court Administrator on matters of policy, court operations, scheduling, and other office needs. Engages with other courts, other governmental units, the local Bar Association, the public, law enforcement agencies and the court’s funding unit related to the management of court operations.
Assists in the preparation and monitoring of the court budget, in addition to the presentation, implementation and oversight of federal, state county and childcare funds.
Responsible for assistance in oversight and coordination of accounting, budgeting, cashiering and financial services for the court. Responsible for the reconciliation of the District Court accounts, including the authorization of invoices and approval of court expenditures.
Assists in the development and preparation of management reports, including caseload, program costs, and program utilization. Aids in the monitoring of case activity, including trends and needs. Participates in the evaluation of technology and facilities management needs of court departments.
Responsible for assisting in human resource matters, including supervision, training, staff development, performance appraisal and disciplinary matters. Assists with complaints, problem solving, assigning and directing workloads. Participate in the development of job descriptions, evaluation of applicant qualifications, interviewing and hiring employees.
Responsible for new employee orientation.
Responsible for coordinating employee schedules, coverage needs within departments and payroll preparation and approval.
Assists in the planning, development and implementation of policies and procedures for the courts. May assist in the design, development, oversight and implementation of court programs.
May conduct general staff meetings to assist in problem solving and ensuring operational efficiencies. Assists with updating employees on policies and procedures.
Assists in the research of legislation and court rules to ensure compliance with the mandated functions of the court. Assists with the development, dissemination and implementation of procedures for compliance with applicable statutes and court rules.
Assists in researching potential grants to enhance services and programs. Participates in the preparation of grant applications and management of approved grants.
May assist in the review of bonding agency credentials and compiling the appointments approved to operate within the county.
Responsible for updates to court webpages.

Other Functions
May be required to serve as the ADA Coordinator for the courts, ensuring individuals with disabilities have equal and full access to the judicial system. May assist in implementing and updating the courts ADA plan.
May be required to serve as the Language Access Coordinator for the courts. May assist in coordinating and scheduling interpreter requests.
May perform additional responsibilities in the absence or as assigned by the Trial Court Administrator.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration, criminal justice or other areas related to court administration, or comparable court-based work experience with some post-high school education.

Experience: 5-7 years of progressively more responsible administrative/legal experience, including previous supervisory experience, preferably in a court setting.
