The Tag and Title Clerk is responsible for processing vehicle title and registration transactions in accordance with the Delaware Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) regulations. This role plays a critical part in ensuring all vehicle sales and registrations are handled accurately, efficiently, and in full compliance with Delaware state laws.

Key Responsibilities:

Process all vehicle titles, registrations, and tag transfers through the Delaware DMV.
Submit title applications and documentation for new and used vehicles, including dealer trades, and out-of-state transfers.
Verify proper documentation including Delaware title applications (MV212), odometer disclosures, lienholder information, and insurance coverage.
Accurately calculate and collect Delaware-specific taxes and fees (document fees, lien fees, tag fees, etc.).
Monitor the status of submitted title work and follow up with the DMV or other agencies as needed.
Handle issues such as duplicate titles, corrections, lien releases, and rebuilt/salvage title processing.
Maintain DMV logs and electronic filing systems per Delaware DMV requirements.
Ensure all deals are processed within the timeframe mandated by Delaware law.
Communicate professionally with customers, lenders, banks, and state agencies.
Stay up to date with Delaware DMV changes, policies, and procedures.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent required.
Prior experience with vehicle title work or DMV processing in Delaware, Maryland, and Pennsylvania preferred.
Strong knowledge of Delaware DMV policies, forms, and vehicle registration regulations.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and dealership management software (e.g.,Dealercenter).
Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced setting.
Must maintain confidentiality and adhere to all regulatory guidelines.

Working Conditions:

Primarily office-based with regular interaction with customers and dealership staff.
May require occasional visits to Delaware DMV offices.
Typical business hours with possible overtime during high-volume periods.
Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus.
