General Description and Classification Standards:
Manages a variety of functions associated with the effective operations of the Court, including Pretrial Release, Warrant Department, Ombudsman Unit, and the Bond Department. Supervises staff, directs court-related activities, develops policy and procedural guidelines, and provides training for Court employees. Oversees all financial aspects of the court. Responsible for the legal custody and proper management of all records both paper and electronic. Provides quality customer service to all citizens that come to the City of Atlanta Municipal Court. Manages assigned area or related areas typical through subordinate supervisors. Develops operating plans and budgets for the activities managed. Plans for the talent needs of the organization and develops employees.
Supervision Received:
Direction received is general and focuses more on long-term and short-term operating objectives, managerial effectiveness, and operating results. This level would be considered “middle” management.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (These are typical responsibilities for this position and should not be construed as exclusive or all inclusive):
Supervises staff including performance planning, evaluation, and monitoring; provides training as needed.
Handles complaints from defendants and customers to ensure the court is providing quality customer service.
Receives and resolves complaints and inquiries from public regarding Court policies and procedures.
Prepares monthly local and state mandated reports.
Reconciles court accounts; monitors account activity of the Department of Correction due to fine collection.
Reconciles and supervises the reconciliation of various revenue streams. Supervises revenue collection and cashier audits.
Handles and researches customer complaints and payment discrepancies.
Oversees input of and accuracy of data in CourtView.
Supervises court clerks responsible for researching and providing certified dispositions, immigration documents, and criminal records to other local, state, and federal agencies.
Maintains the legal custody and proper management of all records under their department, including both paper and electronic records.
Supervises the retention of court records including physical location of these records within the court.
• Develops and proposes procedural changes. • Keeps abreast of technology changes that can positively affect the court’s operation.
Develops and maintains appropriate Standard Operating Procedures.
• Oversees the correct receipt and disbursement of any monies or bonds collected by the department. • Interacts with judges, court staff, and other personnel.
Provides guidance to a varied group of Managers and Supervisors or may directly supervise a staff of professionals and team leaders engaged in an organization-wide or policy-advisory activity. Guidance is typically general in nature and focused on objectives, end results, and policies.
May perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge of the principles, practices, and procedures of the court of limited jurisdiction, court operations management, and human resources management practices, policies, and procedures as necessary in the completion of daily responsibilities.
Knowledge of applicable laws, ordinances, policies, standards, and regulations pertaining to the specific duties and responsibilities of the job.
Leadership and motivational skills. Skill in identifying operating issues and developing long-term resolutions.
Ability to use independent judgment and discretion in managing subordinates including the handling of emergency situations, determining and deciding upon procedures to be implemented, setting priorities, maintaining standards, and resolving problems.
Ability to plan organization operations to accomplish goals.
Ability to build relationships within organization and with external constituents/partners.
