Role Overview

As TALK Hong Kong enters its next phase of growth, we are seeking a dedicated and structured Board Director to head our Governance function. This pivotal role will ensure our organisation operates with the highest standards of integrity, statutory compliance, and strategic alignment. If you are a governance expert who wants to build robust frameworks for a hands-on, passionate grassroots charity, we want to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Governance Leadership: Establish, review, and maintain the organisation’s corporate governance frameworks, policies, and best practices.
  • Compliance & Risk Management: Monitor compliance with Hong Kong regulatory requirements for non-profit organisations and charities.
  • Strategic Oversight: Contribute actively to the board's strategic planning and the sustainable scaling of the organisation. 
  • HR & Committee Guidance: Provide oversight on foundational internal policies, assisting with volunteer and board talent frameworks where needed.
  • Board Collaboration: Work closely with the Chair and Vice-Chair to facilitate transparent reporting and effective decision-making. 
  • Ambassadorship: Represent TALK Hong Kong ethically and professionally at community events or stakeholder meetings.

Qualifications

  • Proven professional experience in corporate or non-profit governance, legal compliance, or board secretariat functions (Essential).
  • Background in HR, talent management, or organisational development is a major bonus.
  • Previous experience in nonprofit governance or board participation (preferred).
  • Passion for child protection and social justice.
  • Cantonese language proficiency is an advantage.
  • Must have the right to work in Hong Kong.
  • Must complete a fit and proper declaration.
  • Must obtain a negative sexual convictions record check.
  • Ability to commit 10 hours per month for a period of 2 years.
