As a Court Clerk II / Bailiff, you will:
Manage the courtroom in an efficient manner; through coordination of counsel, litigants, victims, law enforcement, the media, interpreters, and the public; assure that the judge has all files, motions, sentencing documents, exhibits, case status information and other documents from Arizona Judicial Automated Case System (AJACS).
Review and maintain the accuracy of the court calendar, set court dates and send notices to the appropriate parties.
Enter accurate data into an automated information system, create and update cases, process records, locates and retrieve files or documents, and perform routine file maintenance.
Responsible for the timely and accurate processing of files, paperwork, documents, and records necessary for arraignments, jail releases, bonds, warrants, orders of protection and injunctions against harassment.
Receive, reconcile, and verify payments and bond monies; prepare financial reports; process payments of various tender types and from multiple sources; establish payment plans; monitor payment records; and perform mathematical calculations with speed and accuracy.
Prepare, proofread, and submit routine court correspondence, reports, records, documents, and files.
Track and monitor compliance with court orders and perform the appropriate follow up procedures.
Respond to requests for sensitive information; review files and identify file completeness and compliance to appropriate statutes, rules, administrative orders and other governing policies and procedures.
Assist with VOIR-DIRE jury selection & compensation for Jurors.
Be deputized by the Clerk of the Superior Court to issue marriage licenses.
Maintain confidentiality of court proceedings, files, and documents.
Apply for admittance to the Arizona Court Supervisor (ACS) program and complete program.
Complete the yearly accreditation as required through the Arizona Committee of Judicial Education and Training (COJET).
Guard, protect and maintain privacy and security of the jury deliberation room prior to deliberation; guard, protect and maintain the privacy of the jurors during jury deliberation; escort jurors to lunch, dinner, and as assigned/required.
Assist with scheduling of court hearing; coordinate with the Yuma County Superior Court in preparation for jury trial; manage the jury to prevent juror contamination and tampering throughout the duration of the trail and during deliberations; respond to juror needs during trail and deliberation; prepare and/or provide various forms associated with the court process to attorneys; handle sensitive and delicate issues with confidentiality and professionalism; provides clerical services and administrative support.
Perform other related duties as assigned.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

Possess the knowledge of:

Applicable laws, regulations, statutes, ordinances, policies, and procedures (Federal/State/City).
Principles and procedures of legal record keeping and reporting.
Applications of automated information systems (AJACS).
Standard office practices, procedures, and equipment.
Basic math and arithmetic functions.
Cash handling and processing.
Court policies and procedures.
Principles and practices of communication.

Possess the ability to:

Review and interpret documents regulations, legal documents, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Work under pressure in a dynamic environment with changing demands and priorities.
Interpret and apply legal terminology and court policies, processes, and procedures.
Coordinate and prioritize multiple tasks and activities.
Provide access to the court and customer service in a professional manner.
Use automated information systems (AJACS) to produce documents and maintain databases.
Maintain records and filing systems.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
Maintain composure and working efficiently under stressful conditions; always remaining alert and reacting quickly and calmly in emergency situations; interacting with people of different social, economic, and ethnic backgrounds, including judges, court staff, litigants, attorneys and the general public; effectively communicating in written and verbal forms.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education, Training & Experience:

High School Diploma or GED; and
Three (3) years’ experience in a Court or similar environment; OR
Any equivalent combination of experience, education and training which provides the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the work.

Licenses & Certification:
All Licenses and Certifications required must be maintained throughout employment.

A valid Arizona driver license at the time of appointment
Arizona Committee of Judicial Education and Training (COJECT) yearly accreditation.

Special Requirements:

Must be able to type 30 wpm.
Residency in the United States and within 25 miles of the City of San Luis, Arizona
Desired/Preferred:

One (1) year in the Clerk I capacity
Bilingual in Spanish
San Luis residency

Work Environment:
The employee works in an office environment where the noise level is usually quiet. Certain positions within the classification may require availability to work flexible schedule.
