Position Summary:
The Legal Assistant is responsible for supporting the St. Croix Hospice Legal Department by filing, maintaining, and tracking case files and legal documents, proofreading documents, tracking progress of open cases, and supporting the operations of the Legal Team
Responsibilities:
Performs administrative duties including maintaining calendars, scheduling meetings and drafting and storing legal documents
Screens, directs, and prioritizes incoming calls and email to attorneys
Creates and maintains case files and investigation files
Tracks deadlines and case/investigation progress
Works collaboratively with leaders to resolve and respond to legal and regulatory issues
Develops and maintain effective working relationships with and act as a liaison between government agencies and business representatives.
Assists with special projects and other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Maintains strict confidentiality of organizational information
A high degree of attention to detail, strong organizational and critical thinking skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently and collaborate in a team
Ability to effectively communicate with members of other departments in order to support their functions as well as funnel issues through the leadership team
Ability to read and understand various legal documents
Self-motivated and results-driven
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Adobe Acrobat.
Qualifications:
2+ years’ experience as a Legal Assistant/Paralegal
Paralegal or legal assistant certification preferred
The starting salary range for this role is $75,000-$85,000 This range is a good faith estimate; we may pay more or less than the posted range, and this range may be modified in the future. Actual compensation packages take into account a wide range of factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to geographic location; skill sets; relevant education and certifications; depth of experience; performance; and other business and organizational needs. The total compensation package for this position may also include the opportunity to participate in employee benefits including our medical/dental/vision insurance and 401(k) retirement plans, subject to applicable plan terms, and/or eligibility for other compensation.
