Bilingual Personal Injury Paralegal/Case Manager Jobs in Houston, TX at Confidential
The Smith Law Firm is a personal injury law firm specializing in motor vehicle accidents, slip and fall accidents, workplace injuries, wrongful death and more. We are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented individual with paralegal education and/or law office experience.
Specific Responsibilities for the Paralegal position include the following:
- Drafting petitions, discovery requests and responses, motions and responses
- Calendaring and tracking litigation deadlines, and ensuring timely compliance
- Reviewing and analyzing medical and billing records
- Drafting demands for attorney review
- Preparing litigation status reports
- Communicating with clients, opposing counsel, adjusters, courts, medical providers, experts, witnesses, and third parties pursuant to attorney direction
- Reviewing and analyzing sensitive data and client documents – determining applicable privileges and production of non-privileged materials throughout the discovery process
- Coordinating depositions
- Communicating with clients, opposing counsel, adjusters, courts, medical providers, experts, witnesses, and third parties pursuant to attorney direction
- Supporting reduction work on medical bills, liens, and subrogation claims pursuant to attorney direction
- Conduct open record requests
- Perform Legal research (Using Westlaw, Texas SOS, and other electronic research tools)
- Back-up phone support
- Trial preparation and attendance
- Draft, edit, and review releases and settlement disbursement documents.
- State and Federal E-Filing under the direction of the Attorney
- Experience with screening and signing up new clients.
Minimum Requirements for the Paralegal position include the following:
- 3 years of plaintiff personal injury litigation experience (including motor vehicle accidents)
- Familiarity with the Texas Rules of Civil Procedure, legal vocabulary, and litigation process
- Professionalism and a positive attitude
- Ability to work independently
- Strong organizational skills, maintain a high level of attention to detail, must be able to multi-task and work under pressure
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Three (3) professional references
Education/Experience:
- College degree preferred
- Must have 2-3 years of experience
Bilingual English/Spanish preferred, but not required.
Salary:
- Dependent upon experience; to be discussed.
