Responsibilities:
– Review and analyze medical records and patient information to ensure accurate coding and billing
– Assign appropriate medical codes (ICD-10, ICD-9, DRG) to diagnoses and procedures
– Verify insurance eligibility and obtain necessary authorizations for medical services
– Prepare and submit claims to insurance companies for reimbursement
– Follow up on unpaid claims and denials, and appeal if necessary
– Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations
– Collaborate with healthcare providers and staff to resolve billing issues
– Stay updated on changes in medical coding guidelines and reimbursement policies
-Expertise with occupational medicine/worker’s compensation is required.
-Expertise with pain management is required.
-Experience with Eclinical Works is preferred.
Requirements:
– Proven experience as a Medical Biller or in a similar role
– In-depth knowledge of medical terminology, coding systems (ICD-10, ICD-9), and billing processes
– Familiarity with medical office procedures and electronic billing systems
– Strong attention to detail and accuracy in coding and billing practices
– Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
– Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
– Proficient in using computer software for data entry, record keeping, and claims submission
Note: Certification in Medical Billing is required.
-Must be comfortable with coding, billing all claims for the practice. Must be very comfortable with denials and appeals process.
-Proficiency and experience with coding and billing workman’s compensation claims is a requirement. Must have expertise with billing surgical and spine and joint procedures for work comp. claims.
