Position: BC Public School Employers’ Legal Counsel

As a Legal Counsel, your responsibility encompasses managing a diverse portfolio of legal matters in the public education sector. You will provide practical legal advice, develop effective litigation strategies, and maintain collaborative relationships with various stakeholders, including government and union representatives. This position emphasizes a strong foundation in labour law and effective communication.
Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct grievance arbitrations and labour board hearings
• Advise on labour relations and litigation strategies
• Liaise with school districts and government partners
• Support consistent approaches to legal matters
• Foster relationships across the education sector
Requirements:
• Law degree and active membership with the Law Society
• At least three years of experience as a labour lawyer
• Experience in BC’s K-12 public education sector preferred
• Excellent judgment and interpersonal skills
• Commitment to inclusivity and collaboration
