Salary: $190,000 – $200,000 + relocation available

Overview

An industry-leading aerospace and defense organization is seeking a seasoned Principal Counsel to support its Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) sector. This is a highly visible role partnering with senior leadership to provide strategic legal guidance across a growing, international business.

This position is ideal for a proactive, business-minded attorney who thrives in complex, high-stakes environments and can operate as a trusted advisor to both legal and operational teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as a strategic legal partner to leadership, advising on business initiatives and risk management

• Provide guidance on contract interpretation, dispute resolution, and risk mitigation strategies

• Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of agreements including commercial, government, and aviation-related contracts

• Support complex transactional matters, including aircraft purchasing and MRO agreements

• Conduct legal research and develop strategies on multifaceted legal and regulatory issues

• Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, local, and international regulations

• Collaborate with supply chain and subcontract teams to ensure proper risk flow-down

• Interface with customer counterparts on sensitive or complex legal matters

• Monitor and resolve day-to-day legal issues while staying current on evolving laws and regulations

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

• Active license to practice law in Texas

• Ability to obtain a DoD Secret Security Clearance (U.S. citizenship required)

• 10–15 years of relevant legal experience

• Strong background in contracts, including aircraft purchasing and MRO agreements

Preferred Experience

• Government contracts within the DoD environment (U.S. and international)

• Experience supporting aerospace, aviation, or defense programs

• Demonstrated strength in negotiation and dispute resolution

• High ethical standards and experience working in compliance-driven environments
