The Department of Adult Correction, Division of Community Supervision is seeking a Judicial Services Coordinator (JSC) to work with members and officials of the judicial system, community agencies, victims, and offenders in the Orange County area. The Judicial Services Coordinator will serve as the agency’s representative in court, the community, and in maintaining public awareness of the community service program.
The mission of Community Supervision is to protect the safety of citizens in communities throughout the state by providing viable alternatives and meaningful supervision to offenders on probation, parole, or post-release supervision. The primary goal of Community Supervision is to reach an equal balance of control and treatment for offenders that will positively affect their behavior and lifestyle patterns.
This position is usually located in or near the courthouse. This position is frequently in court and will associate with judges, lawyers, District Attorneys, Clerks of Court, law enforcement, etc. This position is responsible for the intake of all new supervised and unsupervised probation cases and, in specified areas, monitoring unsupervised deferred prosecution cases.
The position shall obtain information from criminal offenders regarding new probation and community service cases placed under Community Supervision’s authority. This entails:
Interviewing offenders, assigning them for supervision, and providing them with reporting instructions
Data entry
Determining if the offender requires interpreter services or accommodation under the Americans with Disabilities Act,
Processing intrastate and interstate transfer cases out of court
The position shall utilize software programs to include:
Common MS Office applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook
OPUS
CSAS
ICOTS
FMS
AOC
The position will monitor for compliance offenders sentenced to community service and may monitor a low-risk-low-needs offender caseload.
The position will perform a variety of administrative tasks, including document preparation and tracking case status.
Work assignments may include providing technical support to staff, acceptance, examination, and processing of legal documents, and providing pre-sentence, pre-parole, post-release investigations, or other special projects as assigned
This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with benefits.
As of January 1, 2025, there are new increase adjustments to the state’s pay plans which were approved by the State Human Resources Commission, effective January 1, 2025. The new salary range will be $43,570.00 – $57,117.00. Prior applicants will remain under consideration and do not need to reapply.

This is an NC05 salary grade position. State employees are encouraged to apply for positions of interest even if the salary grade is the same as or lower than their current position. If selected for this position, a new salary will be calculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity. Based on these factors, a pay increase or decrease may result.

To qualify for this position, the required experience must be described within your body of work experience on the application:
Demonstrated experience in communicating effectively, both orally and in writing.
Work or school experience requiring effective time management and organizational skills
Demonstrated experience working as a member of a team
Management Preferences:

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, human services, psychology, or related field of study from an appropriately accredited institution; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
or
Associate degree in criminal justice, human services, psychology, or related field of study from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of experience in the court system, paralegal work, or other directly related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
or
High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and four years of experience in the court system, paralegal work, or other directly related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

The Division of Community Supervision (DCS) is responsible for overseeing supervision of adult offenders on probation, parole, or post release. The DCS mission is to ensure public safety while helping offenders make positive changes and successfully complete their supervision. DCS collaborates closely with the NC Post-Release Supervision and Parole Commission, the court system as well as other state agencies, and community partners, particularly those addressing mental health, substance use, and re-entry issues faced by our returning citizens. DCS is also responsible for the supervision of offenders who transfer from other states through the Interstate Compact program and has oversight of the Community Service Work Program.
