The Opportunity
We are hiring an attorney for our St. Petersburg office to handle a growing volume of tax and trusts and estates work.
This is not a single lane role. We want an attorney with real depth in tax, trusts and estates, or both, who can also contribute to business and transactional matters and litigation. The firm is founder led and moves quickly, so responsibility scales with performance rather than tenure.
What You Will Do
- Advise clients on tax planning and the tax consequences of transactions, business structures, and wealth transfer
- Represent clients in tax controversy matters, including audits, appeals, collections, offers in compromise, and refund litigation
- Draft estate planning documents, including wills and revocable and irrevocable trusts
- Structure trust and asset protection strategies for business owners and their families
- Handle trust and estate administration and the tax issues that come with it
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and business agreements
- Support or lead litigation matters, including research, written advocacy, and case strategy
- Use AI tools to work faster and more thoroughly on research, drafting, review, and document analysis, while independently verifying every output
- Manage multiple matters and competing deadlines with limited supervision
Areas of Experience
Primary need: Tax and Trusts & Estates. Meaningful experience in one or both is expected.
Also valuable: contracts and business agreements, transactional work, and litigation supported by strong research and writing.
Experience in every area is not required.
What We Are Looking For
- Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
- Admission to The Florida Bar, or eligibility for admission, including candidates awaiting results
- Substantive experience in tax, trusts and estates, or both
- Working knowledge of AI tools and how to apply them to legal work, including research, drafting, summarization, and document review
- Sound judgment about where AI is useful, where it is not, and how to verify its output against primary sources
- Excellent legal research, writing, and verbal communication
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with attorneys and staff
- Entrepreneurial, client focused, and detail oriented
- Interest in increasing responsibility and a long term career with the firm
Location
This position is based in our St. Petersburg, Florida office and is not remote. St. Petersburg offers a downtown office, no state income tax, and one of the fastest growing legal markets in the Southeast.
