(Job Summary)
The Litigation Paralegal provides critical support to an in-house attorney, assisting with a wide range of legal matters including general liability litigation, employment law, commercial landlord/tenant disputes, and general legal operations. This role is responsible for managing case files, drafting legal documents, tracking deadlines, and supporting internal investigations.
The position requires a high level of organization, discretion, and attention to detail, along with the ability to effectively coordinate across departments and with external legal partners.
Candidates must be a certified paralegal through a recognized credentialing body.
What You Do:
(Duties/Responsibilities)
Provide day-to-day legal support for litigation and employment matters, including pre-litigation investigations, active cases, and dispute resolution.
Draft, review, and organize legal documents such as pleadings, subpoenas, discovery responses, position statements, and legal correspondence.
Manage legal calendars, including tracking court deadlines, hearings, depositions, mediations, and compliance timelines.
Support cases related to premises liability, vendor and contractor disputes, slip-and-fall incidents, personal injury, and workers’ compensation claims.
Assist with employment-related matters such as EEOC claims, wage and hour disputes, workplace complaints, and internal investigations.
Conduct legal research and prepare summaries on relevant topics including labor laws, tort liability, and procedural rules.
Coordinate with internal departments such as HR, Risk Management, and Operations to collect documentation and ensure compliance.
File legal documents using state and federal e-filing systems and ensure procedural accuracy and timely submission.
Organize and maintain legal files (both electronic and hard copy), including discovery records, incident reports, personnel documentation, and internal notes.
Assist with trial and hearing preparation: compile exhibits, coordinate witnesses, and manage logistics with court personnel and outside counsel.
Communicate and coordinate with external counsel, insurance carriers, and third-party vendors as needed.
Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive legal and personnel information with discretion and professionalism.
Perform additional legal support and administrative duties as required.

What You Bring to the Table:
(Requirements)
Bachelor’s degree required.
Paralegal Certificate or Certified Legal Assistant (CLA) required; Notary Public designation is a plus.
Minimum of 4 years of paralegal experience, with at least 3 years focused on insurance and/or general liability litigation, landlord/tenant litigation, and/or employment law; in-house experience preferred.
Experience with legal matters related to personal injury, premises liability, vendor disputes, insurance policies, insurance coverage, and employment claims.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), SharePoint, and legal document management systems.
Familiarity with court rules and litigation procedures in both state and federal jurisdictions, including e-filing systems.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; professional and confident interaction across all levels of the organization.
Highly organized and detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Demonstrated ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion and sound judgment.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
